Signs Of Fatal Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

ALS or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease is a neurological disease that gradually damages motor neurons of the body. The early signs are subtle and do not show any distinguishable signs or symptoms. The disease shows different signs in different persons. In some there would be muscle weakness especially in arms and legs while in others they will trip or fall, drop things, cramping or twitching of muscles and difficulty in speaking

This is a fatal disease and the ALS sufferers in the advanced state lose ability to speak, move and breathe. Moreover the sufferer gets just two to three years of lifespan after the start of the symptoms. Mostly the disease begins in heart, feet or limbs and then it spreads in other parts of the body.

Following are the signs that ALS:

The first and the foremost thing to be taken in to consideration is the muscle weakness a it is the hallmark sign of ALS disease and about 60 percent people show positivity. Person with ALS will not have control over things and drop it easily, they will experience extreme fatigue of arms and legs. Also there would be muscle twitches and cramps.

As the disease progresses the condition of the sufferer deteriorates which makes him unable to walk, hold things, lift and to button the clothes. The muscles become weaker until they are paralyzed. The disease is seen in the people with the age group of 40 and 70. this disease is hereditary but the 90 percent of the cases are not hereditary.
