A tubular extension of large intestine vermiform appendix and has a role in the digestion. The actual function is still unknown and the absence of this organ do not make any significant change
Appendicitis are of two types chronic or acute and they may occur either due to obstruction, blocked by feces or pressed against swollen lymph nodes.
All this conditions acts as a barrier and vermiform appendix does not receives blood. As a result the appendix dies and the inside of it becomes the colony of bacterias that causes inflammation and swelling. The acute appendicitis condition develops tremendously fast and easy to identify and detect, the sufferer feels lethargic and feel uneasy all the time whereas the chronic appendicitis develops very slowly and is not easy to detect. Its comes to light when the condition has turn out to be more complicated.
The person with appendicitis will have the first sign in the form of abdominal pain which occurs in different regions of abdomen and at varying degree. To be specific it will start from the umbilical region and radiate towards the right lower side of the abdomen. The abdominal pain aggravates with the physical movement and sudden moves like breathing coughing or sneezing.
Apart from the abdominal pain the sufferer will show other signs like nausea, vomiting, constipation, loss of appetite and diarrhea, fatigue, bad breath, abdominal bloating and moderate fever, but these signs are prominent in other acute form of illness. The fact that the symptoms of appendicitis are not specific and is detected when the complications(perforation, sepsis, gangrene ) have cropped up and the situation is severe.
Life does not gives second chance and so one should be careful when such signs occur and taking help of the doctor to get the exact diagnosis and proper treatment is the best thing one can do.
