Menopause is an inevitable factor in woman after certain age. This is the time when woman experiences a series of changes in the body and finally puts an end to the monthly menstrual periods. This process usually begins around 45 to 50 years which is initiated by the decline in the levels of the hormone estrogen and stops around the age of 55.
The beginning of this process is termed as perimenopause which is followed by series of changes in the body. Not all women going through this phase have severe symptoms, but those who have to go through extreme discomfort know that it is a series of changes in the body that sometimes affect mental health as well. Earlier it was believed to be the beginning of old age but now women have positive approach and live active life after menopause.
All the symptoms that occur are due to low levels of estrogen like hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, vaginal dryness, irritability, fatigue or a drained feeling, loss of Libido, anger, frustration, difficulty concentrating, nausea, increased heart beat and weight gain. In rare cases you will come across premature or early menopause where a woman will experience menopause at an early age or late menopause which occurs in a woman older than 55 years.
